Narcissus — Marcantonio Franceschini

Marcantonio Franceschini’s Narcissus, dated 1700, presents the celebrated figure of classical mythology through the polished grace and measured elegance of the Italian Baroque. Drawing on the ancient tale of a youth captivated by his own reflection, the composition evokes beauty, self-absorption, and the fragile boundary between admiration and illusion. Franceschini’s refined approach lends the mythological subject a poised, contemplative character, balancing dramatic meaning with harmonious form. This museum-inspired reproduction honours the enduring fascination of the Narcissus story and the sophisticated visual language of Baroque painting. Printed as a premium matte fine-art print on 200 gsm paper, it brings a distinguished classical image to interiors shaped by art, reflection, and timeless storytelling.

Our museum-inspired reproductions are printed on premium 200 gsm matte paper, with edge-to-edge artwork and supplied unframed.

To prepare selected historical artworks for fine-art printing, we digitally enhance images where necessary, including adjustments to brightness, contrast and colour balance. These refinements are intended to improve print reproduction while respecting the character of the original artwork. Colours and tonal values may therefore differ from the original painting.
