Samson and Delilah — Frederic Leighton

Frederic Leighton’s Samson and Delilah, dated 1859, presents the fateful Old Testament encounter with the dramatic intensity and refined composition associated with Victorian academic art. Drawing upon the biblical account of strength, betrayal, and human vulnerability, Leighton gives the scene a profound moral gravity while maintaining the polished elegance characteristic of his work. The image invites reflection on temptation, trust, and the consequences of spiritual weakness. This museum-inspired reproduction honours the narrative power and solemn atmosphere of the original artwork. Printed as a premium matte fine-art print on 200 gsm paper, it brings a distinguished biblical image into spaces devoted to contemplation, faith, and an appreciation of sacred art.

Our museum-inspired reproductions are printed on premium 200 gsm matte paper, with edge-to-edge artwork and supplied unframed.

To prepare selected historical artworks for fine-art printing, we digitally enhance images where necessary, including adjustments to brightness, contrast and colour balance. These refinements are intended to improve print reproduction while respecting the character of the original artwork. Colours and tonal values may therefore differ from the original painting.
