About the masterpiece
François-Édouard Picot’s Cupid and Psyche, dated 1817, presents the celebrated lovers of classical mythology through the poised clarity and idealised beauty of French Neoclassicism. Drawing on the ancient tale of love, trust, and uncertainty, Picot’s composition balances emotional tenderness with the polished restraint associated with early nineteenth-century academic painting. The graceful figures and harmonious design give the scene a dreamlike, lyrical atmosphere, inviting contemplation of desire and love’s trials. This museum-inspired reproduction preserves the refined character and mythological elegance of the original artwork. Printed as a premium matte fine-art print on 200 gsm paper, it brings a distinguished Neoclassical image to interiors shaped by art, beauty, and classical culture.
About our prints
Our museum-inspired reproductions are printed on premium 200 gsm matte paper, with edge-to-edge artwork and supplied unframed.
To prepare selected historical artworks for fine-art printing, we digitally enhance images where necessary, including adjustments to brightness, contrast and colour balance. These refinements are intended to improve print reproduction while respecting the character of the original artwork. Colours and tonal values may therefore differ from the original painting.
