Wounded Amazon — Franz Von Stuck

Franz Von Stuck’s Wounded Amazon, dated 1905, presents a legendary Amazon warrior with the dramatic intensity and psychological depth associated with Symbolism. Drawing upon Greek mythology, Stuck explores the contrast between heroic strength and human vulnerability, transforming the wounded figure into a compelling meditation on courage, conflict, and mortality. The work’s powerful modelling and restrained composition heighten its solemn, timeless character. This museum-inspired reproduction honours the evocative symbolism and classical subject of the original artwork. Printed as a premium matte fine-art print on 200 gsm paper, it brings an arresting mythological image into interiors shaped by reflection, history, and an appreciation of European art.

Our museum-inspired reproductions are printed on premium 200 gsm matte paper, with edge-to-edge artwork and supplied unframed.

To prepare selected historical artworks for fine-art printing, we digitally enhance images where necessary, including adjustments to brightness, contrast and colour balance. These refinements are intended to improve print reproduction while respecting the character of the original artwork. Colours and tonal values may therefore differ from the original painting.
